Yes Scanners is an amazing movie but please don't watch sequels.
Phase IV is an interesting if only to see Saul Bass' only feature film.
The Robert Wise adaptation of Andromeda Strain is pretty good (much better than the recent A&E version)
so i'm catching up on r rated movies that i missed when i was younger.
"they live!
" was on the el rey network the other day so decided to watch it.. it was kind of eerie watching this being a fader.. here's a guy living under a controlling regime of elites and only he can see the control measures for what they are.

Assault on Precinct 13
Halloween
The Fog
Escape From New York
The Thing (probably his best movie)
Starman
Big Trouble in Little China
In the Mouth of Madness
Escape from LA

i have been a little troubled with the explanation on the new world translation given during sunday's meeting.
the mag read that with less words the understanding would be more clear, and offered examples where certain texts had 27 words and now only have 19 words and the meaning is clearer.
i am not okay with said explanation.
i think most on here will be familiar with the caller hook up system that many congregations use.
visit about 2 months ago.
during our servant and elders meeting he was talking up the importance of meeting attendance and how we "gods spirit appointed men" must take the lead on making every meeting.
Yeah I saw it around here too. One congregation had probably over half of its publishers listening over the tie-in because of laziness. I went there to give a talk and was surprised at how many people weren't there.
It started happening in my old hall. People starting listening to the tie-in just because. They eventually changed it so you had to be 'approved' to get the tie-in info. They approved the older sick people, which is fair in my opinion.
i'm looking at the may 12, 2014 boe that has more info on the change to kh building, and more importantly, congregations forking over money.
the letter references the march 29, 2014 letter, which i have, but it also references the may 2,2014 letter, which i do not have.
i have the large pdf mega collection but it's not in there.

Thanks!
the video streaming of the german branch visit program was excrutiating 3.5 hours long.. i just went to see the last 45 min (part of mark sandersons talk).. i think sanderson is quite a sympathetic speaker and he kind of made a loving impression.. he didn't mention controversial stuff (except for one thing i will come to soon).
he mostly talked about how to find joy, even when life is not easy, and how much the gb loves the rank and file.. one point seemed soooo important to him.

out of curiosity, i have caught a glimpse or two of the "drama" style videos.
are the ones in these televised "dramas" jw's or did they hire actors for the job?
i can't see the average jw being able to do acting as good (if you will call it good) as some of these people.
For videos and photos, they use 'exemplary' people in Bethel and congregations in the area. They actually have files on these Witnesses and they note if one of them is no longer exemplary. If that happens they will replace them in photographs whenever they update the publications. The most notorious publications for this are the Young People Ask books (for obvious reasons).
I'm guessing it's too expensive to do this for videos but I'm sure it would happen if feasible.
